Étienne was in love with Aimée, the daughter of the town’s wealthy merchant. She had long chestnut-brown hair and eyes that reminded him of the waves of the sea. But he, a simple fisherman, never had the courage to speak to her. Still, he dreamed of giving her something special, something that would silently convey his unspoken love.
